The sample space is the set of all possible outcomes (known as sample points)

An event is a subset of a sample space

For an event A in a sample space S

  • If S is finite (countable), then
  • If S is finite and  is constant for all , then
  • If S is finite then

Conditional Probability

Probability of A if B is the probability of  overa the possibility for B

Multiplication Rule

Total Probability Rule

If  ...  partition S, then

Bayes' Rule
