Stage One - Screening

does your full-scale project design require an EIA by-law? (note, as responsible engineers, all projects will do an EIA for the purposes of this assignment so if you deem yours doesn’t have to be done under the planning regulations state this (and why) and then state you are doing one to be responsible and do Stages 2-4.

Is an EIS required?

If in part 4 or part 5 of EP&A Act

TODO: search for international laws

GOOGLE: Austlii environmental planning and assessment act 1979.

Stage Two - Scoping

summarize the findings of your Leopold Matrix. Include your matrix as a 2nd page to your report. Your matrix should include at least 10 interactions. These can be the same for your whole group, but the rest should be done individually.

Stage Three - Public Participation

(EIS is released (at least 30days in australia) and given to the public to comment)

describe how you will go about ensuring the consultation process is done fairly and effectively for your project. For those of you on an overseas project, consider how you would consult with the locals where you are inputting the project.

Stage Four - Assessment

based on your findings, make an assessment, listing the pros/cons of the project and any reasonable alternatives you might consider in the design to lessen the environmental impact. For this assignment, qualitative (descriptive) discussion is enough.
