  • Currents into both terminals are zero
    ,
  • Voltage across the input terminals is zero

     (Only applies when the output is connected to the inverting input [negative feedback])

 

Having an input resistance of infinity implies that there is an open circuit at the input terminals. Therefore the input currents  and  should be zero.

Negative feedback is important as it allows the output to stay within the unsaturated (linear region)
