Like an ideal capacitor, an ideal inductor does not dissipate energy
Energy is absorbed from a circuit, and stored as a magnetic field which can be released back into the circuit
A real inductor has a very small winding resistance in series, and a very small winding
capacitance in parallel with both, leading to a small loss
of stored energy
